Cosmetic Dentures vs. Regular Dentures

Nov 9, 2022 | Cosmetic Dentistry, Digital Dentures

How Are Cosmetic Dentures Different?

Cosmetic dentures are dentures made by either a cosmetic dentist or prosthodontist. They are more natural looking and better match your face shape and mouth movements than regular dentures. A cosmetic dentist has special training in tooth design and the science of facial proportions and esthetics. In everything they do, they work to create natural and beautiful teeth. Many regular denture clinics make lots of dentures: fast, cheap and ugly dentures. The labs that make them aren’t paying lots of attention to details and it shows.

Do Cosmetic Dentures Cost More?

More than what? Cosmetic dentures vary in cost from dentist to dentist. Ours cost less expensive than the prosthodontist’s office, but cost more than the cheap denture clinics. Why do our cosmetic dentures cost more than discount clinics? Really natural looking dentures take more labor and more dentist attention to create. That doesn’t mean that they take longer to make. It means that a cosmetic dentist will spend more time personally designing your denture teeth so that they look like natural teeth.

Do Cosmetic Dentures Fit Better?

Ours do. We only use digital denture technology. Digital dentures are made with computer models and 3D printers and milling machines. This modern process creates a denture without any change of fit. Regular dentures are modeled in wax and then converted to acrylic and this process creates shrinkage. In addition to being more comfortable when they fit better, a better fitting set of teeth is also better for your oral health because it creates less friction on the gums.
