Why Does Cleaning False Teeth Matter?
Denture wearers know: their teeth may not get cavities or gum disease like natural teeth do. HOWEVER, dentures still need proper care to stay looking and feeling good. Cleaning your dentures the right way helps prevent denture emergencies. It also minimizes denture sores, mouth yeast infections and bad breath.
Here’s how to clean dentures:
1. Rinse the denture under water.
2. Brush the denture using a soft bristled toothbrush, soap and warm water. This removes plaque.
3. Soak the denture in denture cleaner for 15 minutes or the manufacturer instructions. Denture soaking overnight in denture cleaning solution is typically not needed.
4. Rinse the denture under warm water (not hot water!).

Is There A WRONG Way to Clean???
Yes, actually. We occasionally meet a new patient who has ruined their denture using some new heavy duty cleaning method or product. Check out the video below to find out 5 things we commonly see ruining dentures. The first thing in the video that you’ll hear about is how not cleaning a denture can ruin it. The fact that you’re reading this page tells me that you won’t fall into the trap of using random chemicals as denture cleanser. However, some of the next tips are things that clean freaks do. Just because a chemical is good at removing stains, doesn’t mean it’s good for your denture. Don’t do these things if you want to protect your denture and keep it smiling!
