Dentures, particularly upper dentures, can be hard to remove especially if you’re using adhesive.
Dentures getting stuck is a pain!
Here’s how we remove dentures that are stuck:
Step 1
First, if you have used denture adhesive, you’ll want to rinse your mouth with warm water. This helps soften the adhesive and can begin to loosen the denture’s suction.
How to Remove Stuck Dentures Tip #1: Both lower and upper dentures stay in place by suction. Loosening the suction seal is the key to un-sticking a stuck denture.
Step 2
After swishing with warm water, place your fingers between your denture and your cheeks on both sides. Find the place where the edge of your denture meets your gums.
Step 3
Gently apply pressure on both sides of the denture, using even amounts of pressure at first. How to Remove Stuck Top Dentures Tip #2: Changing pressure can help get a little air between the denture and your gums. Creating even a small space can be enough to loosens your teeth so they come out.
Step 4
If even, firm pressure doesn’t pop the denture out, then use your fingers to apply alternating pressure to begin slightly rocking the denture.
Step 5
Pressure on the edge of the denture is usually enough to bring it out. If you find it is still sticking tight, rinse once more with warm water and then put pressure as before.
Step 6
After removing your denture, be sure to rinse your mouth with warm water thoroughly to remove any leftover adhesive residue. You may need to brush or wipe your gums with a soft toothbrush or cloth to insure that every bit of adhesive is wiped away.
Step 7
Clean your denture thoroughly with a soft bristled toothbrush. Use denture cleanser if you want extra freshness and you’re set to go!
